Vijay Varma started his acting Career as a theatre artiste in his birth place ,Hyderabad. After that he complete graduate course , Vijay shifted his base to Mumbai in search of Acting work in TV shows or film.His 1st acting job in the short film named Shor which was directed, written and produced by Raj Nidimour and Krishna DK.
In 2012, Vijay played the role Jhunku in the Indian historical war drama film Chittagong. The film was directed and produced by Bedabrata Pain and written by Bedabrata Pain and Shonali Bose. The Indian historical war drama film Chittagong released on 12 October 2012 and netted Rs 3.1 million at the Indian box office over the budget 31 lakh.
Vijay Varma worked with Indian Hindi-language action drama film Rangrezz. This drama film was directed by Priyadarshan and Written by Mushtaq Shiekh and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. In this film he played the role of Pakkya. It was released on 12 March 2013 and grossed a total of Rs 6.37 crore at the Indian box office.

In 2017, Vijay worked with three Indian films. He played the role adi in the Monsoon Shootout. He played the role Jamal Kidwai in the film Raag Desh and another MCA in this film he played the role of Siva.
Vijay selected for the Indian biographical drama film Manto . in this film he played the role of Ansaar Shabnam Dil. The drama film was directed and written by Nandita Das and Produced by Vikrant BAtra , Ajit Andhare, Namrata Goyal and Nandita Das. It collected a total of RS 3.71 crore.
