In 2004, Jiah Khan was signed to act in Mukesh Bhatt’s Indian Hindi musical romantic drama film Tumsa Nahin Dekha: A Love Story. This film is produced by Mukesh Bhatt, directed by Anurag Basu, and written by Subodh Chopra. The film Tumsa Nahin Dekha: A Love Story was released on 24 September 2004. It grossed 503 crores at the box office over the budget 7 crores.
Three years later, in 2007, Jiah Khan was selected for the Indian Hindi-language drama film Nishabd. This drama film directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The story of the film took inspiration from the 1986 Indian film Anokha Rishta and the 1999 American film American Beauty. In this film, she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Jiah was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut in the same year for her performance in Nishabd.
In 2008, Jiah Khan was selected for the Indian Hindi-language action thriller film Ghajini. The film was directed and written by A. R. Murugadoss. It was produced by Tagore Madhu and Madhu Mantena. The action film Released theatrically on 25 December 2008. This film became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, and the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹100 crore mark domestically. It earned 232 crore box office over the Budget 65 crore.
In 2010, she worked with Indian Hindi-language dance film Chance Pe Dance. In this film she acted as the heroine opposite Shahid Kapoor. but was later replaced by Genelia D’Souza. This is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Ken Ghosh and written by Ken Ghosh, Nupur Asthana and Manu Rishi. The dance film Chance Pe Dance was released on 15 January 2010 and failed to make a mark at the box-office. The film collected 16.3 crore over the budget 29 crore.
